Introduction
BonaFide ("BonaFide", "we", "our", or "us") operates the BonaFide marketing website at bonafide.discount and the BonaFide app services used with supported storefronts. This Privacy Policy explains what information we process, why we process it, how long we retain it, and how you can contact us about privacy questions.
If you have questions about this policy or want to make a privacy request, contact us at support@bonafide.discount.
Information we process
Merchant, store, and app account data
When you install or use BonaFide, we may process information such as:
- Shop domain, store URL, and store identifiers provided through the platform
- App installation details and app account identifiers
- Plan, billing, or subscription status where applicable through Shopify billing flows
- Support requests, contact form submissions, and related correspondence
Product, variant, pricing, and workflow data
To provide the app's workflow features, we may process:
- Product and variant data, including titles, handles, IDs, SKUs, and related catalog structure
- Current prices, compare-at prices, discount status, and historical price records
- Compliance or review status, evidence records, timestamps, and export/report data
- Product type, category, tag, or monitoring configuration used in the app workflow
- Badge configuration, theme/app block settings, metafield-related settings, or similar display preferences where applicable
Shopper Personal Data
The product-page badge is designed to display discount information derived from price history and does not require us to collect shopper personal data just to show the badge. If Shopify sends a mandatory privacy or data-rights webhook request, we may process the limited identifiers included in that request only to respond to the required workflow.
Website technical data, cookies, logs, and scripts
The marketing website and related tools may generate standard hosting or CDN logs and may rely on browser storage, cookies, or technical scripts used for security, performance, contact flows, or site operations. We may also use third-party services for hosting, support, analytics, forms, or embedded content. Because these tools can change over time, you should not rely on this policy as a promise that no cookies or third-party scripts are ever used.
How we use information
We may use processed information to:
- Provide price-history tracking, product and variant review workflows, dashboard views, and trust-badge features
- Generate evidence trails, violation reports, and CSV exports
- Maintain the website, app operations, support flows, and account administration
- Respond to support, security, privacy, billing, or operational requests
- Improve reliability, troubleshoot issues, and protect the service against abuse or misuse
- Comply with legal obligations, contractual obligations, and platform requirements
Service provider categories
We may share data with service providers that help us operate BonaFide. Depending on the workflow, these providers may include:
- Shopify and related platform infrastructure
- Hosting, CDN, and website delivery providers
- Database, storage, backup, and application infrastructure providers
- Support, contact, and communications tooling
- Billing infrastructure provided through Shopify billing flows where applicable
- Analytics or website tooling if used
Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain historical records, support exports, handle disputes, protect the service, comply with legal obligations, and meet legitimate operational needs. Retention periods can vary depending on the type of data and the reason it was processed.
When data is no longer needed for those purposes, we will delete it or de-identify it where reasonably practical. Merchants can contact support@bonafide.discount to request deletion or discuss retention questions.
Uninstall and deletion requests
If you uninstall the app, BonaFide may stop collecting new store data for future workflows. Historical or account-related data may still be retained for a reasonable period where needed for operational, billing, security, support, or legal purposes. You can request deletion or ask questions about post-uninstall retention by contacting support@bonafide.discount.
GDPR and EEA rights
If you are in the EEA or another jurisdiction with similar rights, you may have rights to:
- Access personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of personal data where applicable
- Request restriction of processing or object to certain processing
- Request portability where applicable
We generally process merchant and account data to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, and pursue legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving BonaFide. To exercise your rights, contact support@bonafide.discount.
International processing
BonaFide and its service providers may process data in countries outside your own jurisdiction. When that happens, we rely on contractual, technical, or organizational measures that are appropriate to the relevant workflow and applicable law.
